With over 100 million products sold per year, CMP, founded in 1957, is a major player in the import and export of lifestyle products, covering more than 9 product categories: from furniture to tableware, high-tech, childcare and well-being. CMP stands out for the breadth and quality of its "French Design" product ranges over 7,000 references spread across 14 brands and its customized services, from creation to import, aimed at its 3,000 BtoB customers, supermarkets, hypermarkets, independent retailers, e-commerce...

To distribute its products to national and international customers quickly and efficiently, CMP has a 100,000 m2 logistics platform in Amblainville, of which 24,000 m2 are dedicated to Drop Shipping, for a total of 90,000 packages dispatched every week. At a time when sea freight costs are soaring, and global supply chains for consumer goods are under severe pressure, CMP has enhanced its BEXT WMS solution with the PIINK 3d application, to automatically measure its parcels. CMP's aim is to optimize pallet preparation and container loading for Africa and South America, in terms of both space and cost!

Innovation to cope simultaneously with a shipping crisis and strong business growth
As Mario MARTINS, CMP Site Manager, tells us: "Faced with soaring shipping costs and a rebound in global demand, particularly for capital goods, it was imperative that we automate and make reliable the measurement of our packages, grouped on pallets, to absorb this peak in export activity and load containers at the most accurate costs". To replace manual data entry, a source of approximations and errors, likely to impact costs and customer satisfaction, CMP, has therefore chosen to equip itself in spring 2021 with the PIINK 3d application, in mobile and fixed version, to automate, speed up and make reliable the measurement of parcels with the taking of weight. These measurements will make Master Datas more reliable, and correct any discrepancies between expected and actual. Using the data collected in real time by the PIINK TEKNOLOGY solution, CMP aims to optimize m3 and export container shipments, control the impact of new shipping prices on its sales prices and even better manage its manufacturing priorities.

Results

Computer Vision to optimize processes and service quality
Today, the collection of parcel measurement data is fully automated and reliable. No more manual data entry and errors. The operator places and flashes his parcel on a scale connected to the PIINK 3d parcel recognition application, which automatically collects the parcel's weight, dimensions, volumes, identifiers, date and photo in real time. This "master data", combining product, identifier and measurements, is exported directly into the BEXT WMS solution, to optimize the packing, palletizing and container stuffing stages. The same applies to oversized parcels, which cannot be placed on the scales: the operator, equipped with the PIINK mobile solution, which uses the TOF sensor on his smartphone, can measure these parcels in 3D with a single click.

With its great ergonomics and ease of use, the PIINK TEKNOLOGY solution enables CMP to increase productivity and reliability throughout its logistics processes. With its product range undergoing major renewal, CMP can now automatically measure more than 1,000 parcels with new references in a single day. What's more, the information collected enables the BEXT solution to put the right products in the right containers to optimize service rates and guarantee customer satisfaction.
